Chicks in the Sticks: Woodstock Edition
Our Chicks in the Sticks series continues with a weekend jaunt (with a real, live baby!!!) to Woodstock, NY. If you read A+S, you’ll know we visited this lovely spot this summer and rode bikes, spent hours at the library book sale, sunned on the rocks at the swimming hole, and relaxed at Herb Cottage. I went back this weekend for some quality time with my best friend and our baby to admire the fall foliage. We were on Baby Tutu’s schedule with napping and eating, but it didn’t matter – we were happy to relax and drink wine in the cottage in the middle of the day, and go to bed early after a movie. One day I took a long run in the pouring rain during naptime – whew, those leaves were slippery and those hills are no joke! Check out some of the gorgeous autumn colors (and some surprise Baby Tutu shots thrown in).
Apparently this broken grand piano is an installation that changes per season, but always the same message: I will miss you. It had a patriotic 4th of July theme when A+S was there last.
I also revisited the beautiful Woodstock Cemetery to admire the changing colors in the mountain beyond. Looks a little different in summer!
The town of Woodstock is as charming as ever. This being my third trip to this perfect hamlet, I love that I now have favorite shops and restaurants to visit. Yes, this is someone’s family portrait that I’m capturing. So? (I love them.)
On my wish list this time around was the Gypsy Wolf Cantina, a Mexican restaurant that is chock full of whimsical wolf and chicken decorations. Plenty for a little baby to take in as she sits and waits for her dinner, thoroughly politely I might add. Please note that I used to be my best friend’s favorite dinner companion. Well, I can kiss those days goodbye as I have been replaced by a cute, small blonde who has no shame in wiping scrambled eggs all over her head at the table.
Yo – check out our original Chicks in the Sticks post in Narrowsburg, NY here.
