Cape Cod Jet Lag Journal: Champagne Sunsets
On my list of favorite things to do ever, watching the sunset at Duck Harbor with Cape Cod potato chips, cheap champagne and a cozy sweater is in the top five. After a long sunny beach day, we walk through the dunes and set ourselves up on a beach blanket while the sky turns pink, lavender, and neon orange. The residents of Wellfleet applaud once the final peep of sun vanishes, and I generally like to sing a celebratory song for her. No one else does but they don’t seem to mind my worship. It’s simple, it’s beautiful, it’s perfect. (The sunset, not the song – although….)
That gorgeous sunset makes us ravenous! So we head to one of the loveliest restaurants of all time, Winslow’s Tavern. Inside, it’s warm and cozy with light yellow walls, sunflowers, and little lavender asters but we prefer to sit outside, even when it’s chilly. Nothing like lobster spaghetti and an espresso martini to warm you up!
It’s also a great spot for lunch, bright and sunny but in the shade of an enormous oak.
