Beverly Hills, What a Thrill
For it’s 100th birthday, the Beverly Hills Hotel, like every single one of its patrons, has been undergoing a facelift. It has a great doctor, because the work is subtle and true to the original. It’s one of those elective surgeries that has friends thinking, “I know she did something, but what?” Most importantly, the bright pink exterior, the banana leaf wallpaper, and the green and white stripes stay just as they are. Like any good plastic surgery, while the surface looks tighter and fresher, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. That means that the legendary residential caché of the Pink Palace remains intact.
This hotel has been iconic for many generations, but for children of the 80s like me, it can only mean one thing: Troop Beverly Hills. (Design*Sponge did a great Living In: Troop Beverly Hills article.)
And as it truly looks good enough to eat, it was created in cake. Oh how I would love to settle into the Polo Lounge (also newly renovated) and just dig right into this with some champagne and a diamond tennis bracelet.
The Beverly Hills Hotel is just about nearing completion on the hotel rooms, lobby and pool. I am primed for a visit, you only have to ask.
